Detroit Red Wings captain Nicklas Lidström, 42, announced his retirement from hockey today. Lidström has played his career with the Red Wings, but he is the kind of player that transcends the team he plays upon. How influential has he been in 20 years with the NHL? Twitter has been full of accolades from players across all leagues - NHL, AHL, ECHL, and various European leagues - for the past 24 hours.
